Artisan Drapery Rod

Choosing the Right Rings for Your Drapery Rods

One of the most common questions we receive at Artisan Drapery Rod Company (ADR) is, “What rings go with my rod?” Understanding the compatibility between drapery rings and rods can be crucial for achieving both the desired aesthetic and functionality in your window treatments. In this blog, we’ll guide you through our various rod and ring options, ensuring you make the perfect choice for your project.

1-Inch Scale Line: Finding the Perfect Match

Our 1-inch scale line includes multiple rod styles, but not all 1-inch scale rings are compatible with all 1-inch scale rods. For example, our ¾-inch rope twist rod can fit a 1-inch ring, but the ring will only slide a short distance along the rod. Therefore, it’s not advisable to use a 1-inch ring on a ¾-inch rod.

Ideal Pairings:

  • 7/8-Inch Metal Rod with 1-Inch Ring: This combination is perfect for stationary draperies, offering a snug, aesthetically pleasing fit.
  • 2-Inch Ring: If you need a functioning drapery, opt for the 2-inch ring, which slides smoothly along the rod.

Specialty Rings: C Rings for One-Way Draws

For one-way draw draperies, we offer C rings, which are designed to bypass over special C ring brackets. It’s essential to note that these rings only work with our 7/8-inch metal rod and require a 1-inch scale C ring bracket for proper operation.

2-Inch Scale Line: Versatile and Stylish

Our 2-inch scale line offers three distinct ring options, each providing a unique look while fitting seamlessly on any 2-inch scale rod:

  • 3-Inch Iron Ring: Sleek and minimalistic, perfect for a modern aesthetic.
  • 3-Inch Wood Style Ring: Adds a touch of traditional elegance.
  • 3-Inch Wood Style Beaded Ring: Combines classic charm with intricate detailing.

3-Inch Scale Line: Bold and Functional

For larger-scale projects, our 3-inch scale line features a 4-inch ring. This substantial ring is not only functional but also stylish enough to double as a bracelet! It fits perfectly on any 3-inch scale rod, providing a bold statement for any window treatment.

Enhancing Functionality: Ring Glide Tape

If you ever experience trouble with your rings sliding smoothly on your rods, our Ring Glide Tape is the perfect solution. Available in various sizes to fit different rod diameters, this tape creates a smooth gliding surface, ensuring effortless movement for your drapery rings.

How to Apply Ring Glide Tape:

  1. Prepare the Rod: Ensure the rod is clean and dry.
  2. Apply the Tape: Remove the blue backing and carefully place the tape on the top of your rod. Try to apply it smoothly in one go to avoid peeling off the paint.
  3. Smooth It Out: Gently smooth the tape onto the rod. The tape is practically clear, maintaining the aesthetic of your rod while enhancing functionality.

Tip: Ring Glide Tape is especially useful for expandable rods, where a smaller rod extends from a larger rod. By applying the tape along the top, you create a seamless ramp for the rings to transition smoothly between rod sections.
